More than 450 young entrepreneurs from Harare’s Dzivarasekwa suburb are set to benefit from a youth empowerment initiative designed to transform townships and rural economies.

The initiative, spearheaded by the National Venture Capital Company of Zimbabwe (NVCCZ), seeks to finance youth-led enterprises while fostering a culture of entrepreneurship, job creation, poverty reduction, and community transformation.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the programme:

  • “I am happy we have been empowered as youth. I run a poultry business, and I see myself becoming a major poultry producer. We thank government for this initiative.”
  • “I want to thank the government and NVCCZ for this opportunity. I have a braai project which I believe can become the next big thing. This project will benefit my community and attract more people to our area.”

The programme combines financial support with practical training and incubation, enabling young people to turn innovative ideas into sustainable ventures.

NVCCZ Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Tino Kambasha, highlighted the organisation’s role:
“Through the Dzikwa Trust, 450 young people developed business proposals and underwent training. We are helping them commercialise these projects into structured business units, in line with the President’s call to support enterprise development in high-density and rural areas. The youth are the future, and investing in them means securing the nation’s future.”

Government representatives echoed this vision. Deputy Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, Honourable Kudakwashe Mnangagwa, stated:
“This programme is an expression of His Excellency’s vision to decentralise opportunities. While talent is distributed evenly by God, opportunities are often concentrated. Through NVCCZ, we are spreading opportunities to young Zimbabweans, nurturing and commercialising their ideas so they can create jobs and transform their communities.”

Launched in Dzivarasekwa, the initiative will gradually expand across the country, placing Zimbabwe’s youth at the heart of economic growth.
